Read at Home for Success

The more we read, the more we learn.  The more we learn, the greater we become.

All children, especially my 5th graders, are expected to read their AR books every school night and once over the weekend.  Once your child finishes his/her book at home, encourage them to go to school and take the test to show that they have read the book.

Read every day for 30 to 45 minutes.

Concerns with multiplication

Family Members~

If a child does not know their basic math facts [ie 7x8=56] mastered, the rest of the math curriculum will be a challenge.  These students will find math in the 5th grade a real challenge and a struggle.

Family members have told me that once their child mastered the basic multiplication math facts, the homework was much easier and much less frustrating.  Have you noticed that your child struggles with division or multiplication problems?  This is because they do not have their math facts mastered.  There is something that can be done.  You can help.  You might ask how?

How Can I Help My Child?

Below are two wonderful pages to start with.

Print, Practice and Learn the 36 Basic Facts.

Next, Print and Assess your child on the 36 Basic Fact Test .

In order to pass Trimester 1 - Score 100% in 5 min; Trimester 2- Score 100% in 4 min; and Trimester 3- Score 100% in 3 min

Further, you can even buy or MAKE your own flash cards.
